Christine Fenton
Christine graduated from the Registered Practical Nursing program in 2005 and has dedicated her career to advocating for those residing in long-term care. She is a mentor and educator and believes the dissemination of knowledge empowers others to improve their own practice and enhance one’s quality of life. Christine brings twenty-five years of nursing experience to her clinic.

Christine graduated from the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC), offered through the University of Toronto in 2020. She has also completed the Wound Care and Advanced Wound Care Certificate program from York University in 2018 and is a proud member of Wounds Canada and the Chamber of Commerce (Owen Sound). Christine has a certificate in surgical complications and additional training and certificates in Diabetes from Wounds Canada.

Christine, under the medical direction of Gillian Elmes, Nurse Practitioner, offers an advanced wound care clinic that offers the best standards of care in wound care and prevention, wound care education, and innovative patient care.

It is Christine's ambition to bridge the gap in wound care services by offering immediate wound care treatment access from those specializing in the art of wound care.
Nurse Practitioner
Gillian Elmes
Gillian obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in 2007 and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2010 at Western University. Her Master of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner training were completed at the University of Toronto in 2014. Since 2014, Gillian has been licensed with the College of Registered Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a primary health care nurse practitioner.
Gillian has over twenty years' experience in working in health care, and over ten years' experience in primary health care, providing services to clients of all ages. She has a special interest in women's health, chronic disease management and illness prevention. She is the founder of NursEd and the sole proprietor of the Cancer and Chronic Disease Screening Clinic located at the Blue Mountains Community Health Center, Thornbury. Gillian is also a clinical lead at Telus Health Virtual Care.
Gillian provides clinical support to Christine Fenton, RPN, IIWCC,WCS. She offers a breadth of in-person and virtual services including cancer screening, and the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of various infections, mental health conditions, diseases of the respiratory, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, immunological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular systems and more. She can order diagnostic testing, prescribe medications and initiate referrals to specialists.

Services of an independent nurse practitioner are not covered by OHIP, but are eligible for reimbursement through private insurance providers.

Clinical Advisor
Dr. Idevania Costa
Dr. Ide Costa is a NSWOC with an extensive clinical practice in the management of complex and uncommon wounds including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure injuries, venous leg ulcers, surgical and traumatic wounds. Dr. Costa’s both master (University of Sao Paulo, Brazil) and doctoral program (Queen’s University, Canada) focused on improving wound healing while focusing on cost-effectiveness and enhancing individuals’ engagement in every day self-managment of chronic wounds. Dr. Costa is an Assistant Professor in the school of nursing at Lakehead University and a member of national (e.g., Wounds Canada, Nurse Specialized in Wound Ostomy and Continence-NSWOC) and international (e.g., WCET, WOCN) wound care societies. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and lectured nationally and internationally. Dr. Costa has also been the recipient of multiple national and international awards in recognition of her outstanding work as a wound care nurse and researcher. Her passion to advance wound care outcomes by providing easy and timely access to Wound Care Specialists led her to create ADVANCED in 2019.
Dr. Costa collaborates with our team by providing clinical consultation through her virtual wound care platform.
Certified Diabetes Educator, Footcare Nurse, RPN
Sole Proprietor of Clarks Footcare
Sara Hodgson
Sara Hodgson is a Registered Practical Nurse (2013) and a Certified Diabetes Educator. (2014) She is also a proficient footcare nurse serving the Owen Sound and surrounding area.
Certified Diabetes Educators specialize in the provision of Diabetes self-management education. The discipline is about assisting people with Diabetes, their families, and carers to gain the knowledge, skills, motivation and confidence to manage their condition.

Sara offers nail care, callous and corn removal, and the treatment of ingrown nails.
